Nate Woodman's Vintage Scrambler

I first met Nate Woodman in Lincoln, Nebraska in the fall of 1998 when I started working at a bike shop where he was a mechanic. My first impression was that Nate had a big problem; he had a severe obsession with bikes, particularly those of the vintage mountain bike variety. Since then Nate has started his own bike shop in Lincoln called Monkey Wrench. I've seen lots of bike shops during my time in the industry and I can say Monkey Wrench is one of the coolest! A great atmosphere, great staff and an incredible amount of rare, vintage mountain bikes. A museums worth. If you ever find yourself in Lincoln make sure to stop in and say hello.

Woodman's Signal "Scrambler" was built around some great NOS MTB components. Deore XT, WTB grease guard hubs and headset made by Chris King, and some crazy rare grips. We combined the old with the new and assembled the bike with Paul v-brakes and levers, a Moots ti post matched to a custom ti bar made for us by our good bud, Sean Chaney at Vertigo Cycles. The frame is a fillet brazed collection of Columbus and Dedaccai tubing and uses Pacenti's wide, plate-style fork crown as an homage to old school Bridgestones. Super fun bike to design and make for a really good friend!
